Often the people we are least effective at using NVC with at first are those we are closest to. One of the ways NVC has enriched my life has been to make me more accountable for my own stories and feelings/needs so that I can be increasingly aware when I am too triggered to listen effectively. This 3 hour class will focus on the difference between the consciousness of empathy and walking through the motions (of OFNR) in a triggered state, especially when it comes to family and other close relationships with history. We will explore the use of self-empathy for self-connection and consequent decisions on whether to then move to self-expression or giving empathy. This may involve discussion, games and/or role plays. *Please note daylight savings time starts on the day of this course!
Erika Jennings has partaken in three 9-mo leadership training NVC programs through BayNVC and Hawaii NVC. She has also attended an IIT with Marshall Rosenberg. Erika has been leading introductions and short workshops in NVC since 2006. |
