This is for you if you have some experience in Nonviolent Communication and you are eager, enthusiastic, passionate, and/or determined to live and teach Nonviolent Communication. You want to experience mentored empathy with someone who specializes in empathic presence and guidance.
If you are on the path of certification, or plan to be, these calls with Mair could count towards your training hours.
We'll experience empathic presence as we practice key empathy skills together in full group and in breakout groups while on the call. You can ask for me to come to your group for support when you like (by pressing 1 on your keypad)
We'll continue sharing in our online forum with specific questions and active participation (as often as you choose) between calls. You can both ask for and offer support.
NOTE: These calls are scheduled for one hour, however the line will be open after the scheduled hour for the "after-call party", where participants can engage with each other for up to 2 hours additional time!
Current Plans for Call Structure 5-7 mins: Circle Check-In Specific Question (relevant to the key skill) to answer 10-13 mins: Key Skill One each week with periodic review.Explanation, Demonstration with Mair and a Volunteer 15-20 mins: Small Group Key Skill Practice
5-7 mins: Large Group Harvest of Learnings What did you learn that you want to share with the group (contribution to learning)
5-7 mins: 1:1 Empathy Demonstration Focus Selection and Demonstration with Mair and a Volunteer 10-13 mins: Empathy Dyads 5-7 mins: Circle Check-Out with Specific Question (relevant to our time together) to answer. Mair plans to leave call at the 60 minutes mark, however others may choose to stay on call and continue to interact to support each other, for connection, and to attend to other needs. Note: The call is recorded, so what is shared in the main part of the call will be available for all to listen to. The recording is of the main call portion; the breakout sessions are NOT recorded. If you would like to continue a discussion on the call “in private”, you can ask to be put in a breakout room to exchange phone numbers and/or to continue with an unrecorded interaction. Sometimes at the end of the main circle checkout, people who are not in a private breakout empathy group asked to be placed in a breakout room to continue to interact without being recorded. Sometimes people choose to stay in the main recorded part of the call so that their interactions are recorded. Flexibility of options each call. What some people say about Mair Alight: Miki Kashtan: " I have known Mair since 2002, when she attended the BayNVC Leadership Program. I appreciate, in particular, her deep passion for meaning, her dedication to authenticity and full human connection, and her humor and courage in responding to challenges. I trust her understanding of NVC and her continued immersion in learning and clarifying concepts and processes. I am impressed by what I see as her ability to see and reach human beings across a wide range of demographics and experiences and offer meaningful healing and learning to others." - Miki Kashtan, Lead Trainer, Strategic Vision, Bay Area Nonviolent Communication (BayNVC) www.BayNVC.org Ike Lasater: "I’ve known Mair for a decade as a friend, colleague and as a participant in some of my NVC Mediation workshops. I very much enjoy how she shows up in the world with humor, care and clarity. I like the way Mair relates to herself, and to me and others. I without reservation recommend that you work with her at every opportunity." – Ike Lasater, www.NVCMediation.com Lanna Seuret "My experience on these calls is to expect the unexpected - it happens and I'm enlivened and enriched. What an empathy bargain!" - Lanna Seuret "During Mair's Mentoring Calls I experienced her creative, NVC exercises as both fun & easy to apply to my life." Kelley Giaramita, Wellness Consultant Bud Frutkin: I first met Mair Alight two years ago during a month-long NVC event involving daily phone calls and 40-50 people worldwide. Different speakers would begin each call with a short presentation about some aspect of NVC, and we listeners would respond with our reflections and questions. It was beautifully organized. I met my first empathy buddy on those calls (not knowing before them what an “empathy buddy” even was). And I met Mair on a daily basis because she was hosting the program. I experienced directly her skills with the techniques of large conference calls. I supposed also that she was doing the behind-the-scenes gathering of NVC talent, with all the hassles of scheduling in the face of international time zones and very busy people. But I was most delighted by how Mair handled the personal sensitivities and little flare-ups that occur when you bring highly skilled people (among both speakers and listeners) together with neophytes and NVC dummies like myself. I admired, really admired, how she channeled the energy flows--often at tsunami level, sometimes barely moving—into nurturing and often magical new directions. She did this with some magic wand of the mind and with her chuckling, bubbling humor, which I love. And the best gift of all: she made you aware you could have your own magic NVC wand too, if you wanted it. And were willing to listen, really listen; and to practice, really practice; and to laugh, really laugh. Marshall B. Rosenberg: "Mair Alight is one of sixty individuals from twenty-five countries selected by the Center for Nonviolent Communication to attend a Special Session on Social Change in July 2005 in Switzerland. The purpose of the session was to further the vision we have to create a world where all people are getting their needs met and resolving their conflicts peacefully.Mair Alight is committed to the vision of creating and participating in building worldwide networks of life-serving systems including, but not limited to education, economics, justice, healthcare, peacekeeeping. It is my hope that you will support her in her efforts towards implementing social change." Warmly,Marshall B.
