The Gandhi-King Season for Nonviolence, Jan. 30 through April 4, is an international, grassroots campaign dedicated to promoting nonviolence as a powerful way to heal, transform and empower our lives and our communities. The Season for Nonviolence began in 1998, inspired by the 50th and 30th memorial anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This international movement strives to honor the vision of these great peacemakers through action and education.

In honor of the 18th annual Season of Nonviolence, January 30-April 4, we are offering an introduction to Nonviolent Communication. The season is inspired by the memorial anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. and we will explore the philosophy of nonviolence and the tools of Nonviolent Communication, as developed by Marshall Rosenberg, PhD to create more peace in ourselves, our relationships, and the world we want to create, where all lives matter and everyone's needs are met. It takes compassion, intention, courage, and concrete tools to build what Dr. King called the Beloved Community. Nonviolent Communication can give us the tools to help bridge the gap of  us and them, and create communities of cooperation and peace.
