Details

Heat?  Bake?  Cook?  Hot water? .....
This hands on workshop will work you through design and construction of several rocket stove "cores".  Bring scrounged materials - steel cylinders, even #10 tin cans will do, salvaged ductile iron pipe (cast iron) Prize given to most creative salvaged part employed in construction.  (I'm thinking of using an old fire hydrant as a central part of a core...) We're hoping to have a stove under construction at either the yurt (Holding) or in the farmhouse to view and join in constructing as well as having groups create a stove core.

Points

  • The workings of Heat
  • Group and small working groups
  • Design and assembly of several rocket stove cores
  • Opportunity to participate in installation of rocket stove under construction - probably doing cob as part of that.

Who is it for?

Fire geeks, thrifty people, people who really appreciate efficiency and self sufficiency.  A couple of years ago Eddie built a rocket stove at the NVC Family Camp with several kids and staff.  Interested youth are encouraged to attend.

What to bring:

Food to share for meals, scrap pieces for construction (steel, fire brick, cast iron pipe etc, wood ashes (for insulation)

Tuition Details:

The tuition is: Gift Economy at work

We'd like to cover Eddie's travel expenses (~$200, use of the Farmstad equipment and property and raise some money for the Farmstad's Permaculture/Compassionate Communication activites.  If everyone gifted from $50 - $200 I think we'd be set.  Please give only if it you are well connected to your need to do so.
